Mr Jamie Maguire had a new patient come to see him yesterday for advice on having Implant work done. The patient had lost her teeth at an early age and had gone for years with full dentures. She thought she was too old to have implants done but after a lengthy and in depth discussion with jamie she was happy that the treatment could go ahead.

There  is obviously some preparatory work that has to be carried out before the implants can be placed, as you can imagine the amount of bone the patient will have lost over the years, but after full head x-rays were taken and some study models cast, the patient and Mr Maguire are more than happy to go ahead with the work.

Today has been so busy ive hardly even had time to this blog!!

We have had 2 Implant patient & 5 Cerec patients!!

Well its Friday & we are all looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend!!!!!

Our receptionist has taken the plunge and has finally moved out of her mums and in with her partner ! On one condition !

He has to get rid of his one tooth partial denture and have an implant placed !

He has had his initial consultation with Dr Greig McLean and after having study models made and an OPT radiograph taken the prognosis looks good and the implant is being placed on Saturday.

Our receptionist is over the moon, and even though the final crown restoration won’t be placed for about another 3-4 months, she is glad she has a man with a full set of teeth !

Yesterday at the practice was hectic ! The amount of new patients coming in is unbelievable at the moment ! Nahida Roy, Jamie Maguire and Rita Ahmad have new folk coming out of their ears !! Being at the reception desk is a task at the minute. What with the amount of Medical Historys and Smile Menus that hav to be handed out, filled in and then scanned into treatment record cards we seem to be unable to catch up with the rest of our work !

Roll on the weekend !!

Have seen a lot of patients attending the practice recently looking to have Implants placed instead of denture work or bridgework. Our Implantologist Greig Mclean is ultra busy at the moment !! Saturdays are getting booked up really early and he is working late nights.After your initial consultation, all being well, you can have the first stage of your implant placed within a week or two. Even in the current financial climate we have seen quite a lot of new patients registering for cosmetic work.

Had patient in on friday of last week – appointment with Dr Jamie Maguire. Patient had lower tooth taken out but was now ready to get the space filled. Had a chat and decided that a denture was not the road he wanted to go down. The other options where either a bridge or an implant. After discussion with Jamie the patient opted for the implant. Although the cost for the implant is more expensive the patient understood that bridgework would involve other teeth – teeth that previously have had no dental work carried out on them and so was eager to use the implant system to fill only the space he had and therefore keep his other teeth untouched.

Yesterday our patient attended our Implant dentist Dr Greig Mclean and Dr Jamie Maguire to discuss alternatives to wearing a denture. He was delighted that our world class Nobel Biocare implants were available at our practice. He decided that to improve his quality of life and to improve his life, impant retained dentures were the way to go.
